Helvetica

The documentary directed by Gary Hustwit on Helvetica was interesting. It was releases on the typographies 50th anniversary. I never once considered the importance of a font, let alone one that in 'perfect'. It was thought to be a safe font in terms of legibility and appearance. Thats why it is so used. It is one of the most popular and most used fonts in the world. The word Helvetica translates to the word Swiss, as the creators didn't deam it appropriate to name the font after the country Switzerland.
